Joe Rodriguez

Joe Rodriguez was born and raised in Texas. He moved to Reno, with his parents, in 2000 when he was in his late teens. Today, Joe and his wife have four children, and his youngest three attend the Washoe County School District.

Post-high school, Joe began working for the Bureau of Land Management as a wildland firefighter. During off-seasons, he volunteered as a firefighter in the North Valleys. After several years, Joe joined the Nevada National Guard, where he served for eleven years. Joe has earned degrees from Columbia Southern University in Criminal Justice and in Fire Science.

While in the military as a non-commissioned officer, Joe earned the privilege of leading soldiers on stateside and humanitarian missions and served overseas in Afghanistan.

Public Service

Currently, Joe works for the Nevada Department of Public Safety in the State Fire Marshal Division. He manages the Investigation Bureau, a statewide law enforcement division, and is responsible for equipment, supplies, travel, and training. 

Joe has led and assisted in several high-profile cases, such as the Pine Haven Fire and the University of Nevada Reno – Argenta Hall Explosion,  and sits as the Vice President of the Nevada International Association of Arson Investigators (NVIAAI).
